The Inn

New Hope's 1870 Wedgwood House is a gracious Wedgwood-blue colored Victorian "Painted Lady" and looks great in all four seasons.  Open year 'round, it sets on 2 plus acres of landscaped grounds yet is just steps from the bustling village of New Hope.  The original portion of the Inn once served as a camp site for General George Washington and 1200 Continental Army soldiers in December 1776, just prior to the famous Christmas Eve Crossing of the Delaware River (which took place a few miles from the Inn).  Today the Wedgwood combines Victorian splendor with such modern amenities as 2 person Jacuzzi tubs, Fireplaces, and wireless internet connections.  We serve both corporate and leisure travelers and also host smaller business meetings and special events. Rated "Excellent" by AAA & Mobil Travel Guide.

Our Staff

Nadine and Carl have owned and operated Wedgwood House since 1982.  Together with their devoted and knowledgeable long-term staff, Wedgwood has earned national acclaim as a friendly, clean, comfortable and hospitable inn. Carl's Inn School includes workshops for aspiring innkeepers.  His Apprentice Program is the oldest innkeeper training program of its kind in the USA.

House guests come from all 50 states and several dozen foreign countries to experience our "quintessential American historic inn" and to find New Hope in this Pennsylvania riverside artists' colony.  Bucks County's 300 year old Quaker culture and tradition of tolerance and acceptance makes everyone feel welcomed.  We are fortunate that a big percentage of our customers return and also recommend Wedgwood to their friends and fellow workers.  Last year over 4 dozen house guests who had stayed with us as a child, returned to stay with us again...with a child of their own!

Good Morning Carl,

I just wanted to let you know that I had a wonderful stay at Wedgwood.  I told your wife that I had one of the best night sleep, I have had in a while.  Thank you for your hospitality and delicious (and healthful!) homebaked goods.  I look forward to staying at Wedgwood (with my wife next) in the future.
Have a fantastic day!

Sincerely,

Great Anniversary Weekend

Hi there!

We just got home after celebrating our 2nd anniversary together this weekend at the Umpleby House. We had a wonderful time! We've also stayed at the Aaron Burr House in the past - everytime we stay we just love it! The rooms are perfect, breakfast is delicious, and the hospitality is always so nice! Thank you so much for making our weekend special!

All the best,

Angie & Max S., Little Falls, NJ

Dear Carl and Nadine,

Adam and I would like to thank you for helping to make our wedding day so special.  Our stay at The Wedgewood surpassed our expectations.  Our room was perfect, clean, quiet, quaint and private.  The hot tub was fantastic following such a hectic day!

Thank you especially for your patience and understanding with the starting time being almost an hour later than we had agreed upon with you.

Best Wishes,
Adam and Amanda D.
